Our Harvesting Process

Initial Consultation
Every project starts with a conversation about your property, your concerns, and your goals for the future of your woodland. We listen first.
STEP 02
Property Evaluation
Our team visits your property to evaluate the timber, terrain, accessibility, and overall condition of the woodlot to determine the best approach.
STEP 03
Customized Harvest Plan
Based on our evaluation, we’ll develop a harvesting plan for your property and objectives. References from previous landowners are available upon request.
STEP 04
Permits & Preparation
King’s Sawmill obtains the necessary permits and develops erosion and sedimentation control plans to help protect your property during harvesting.
STEP 05
Timber Harvesting
Our SFI-trained logging crews carefully harvest mature hardwood timber using sustainable forestry practices designed to support future forest growth.
STEP 06
Site Restoration
Once harvesting is complete, our team grades and seeds skid trails & landing areas, improves access roads, and leaves your property in good condition.

How often can I harvest my timber?
A properly managed property can often support a timber harvest every 10 to 15 years, and sometimes sooner under the right conditions. The timing depends on many factors, including how the woodland was previously managed. By using sustainable forestry practices and making responsible harvesting decisions, landowners can maintain healthy, productive forests for future generations.
I have road frontage but no access. How will you reach my property?
King’s Sawmill has an in-house excavating crew that can build access roads, landings, and other improvements to reach and harvest your timber. We also obtain the necessary permits to complete the work properly.
If I sell my timber, how do I get paid?
Landowners are paid in full before any trees are harvested, giving you confidence and peace of mind throughout the process.

Because you’re selling directly to the buyer, there are no consultant commissions or middlemen involved.
Will you purchase logs that have already been cut?
Yes. We purchase logs that are free of nails or other metal, are at least 16 inches in diameter, and can be delivered to our sawmill. Please contact us for current pricing.
Can you remove a tree growing near my house or power lines?
No. We recommend contacting an arborist or tree trimming company for trees located near homes, buildings, or utility lines.
